First, we enter into an agreement covering terms of the assignment of the judgment. Then the judgment is legally assigned to us, making us the judgment creditor. This enables us to pursue the debtor and his assets. After finding where the debtor is and what he has, we determine what legal methods will be successful in collecting what is owed.

The time period can vary greatly. The difficulty in locating the debtor and uncovering his assets determine the time required for recovery. In some cases, results can be seen within 90 days. Other cases can take much longer, occasionally years.

In California, judgments must be enforced within ten years. This can be extended by petitioning the court. The limitations in other states vary.
You can use an attorney if you are willing to pay a retainer and a fee of between approximately $150.00 and $200.00 per hour whether they collect anything or not.
A collection agency normally contacts a debtor by phone and mail. This process attempts to irritate him to the point of collecting something. The agency may even record a black mark on the debtor's credit report. They rarely recover funds.
